Definition and Classification of the Fragrance Industry

Flavoring agents are concentrated aromatic oils artificially synthesized to mimic the scents of fruits and natural fragrances. They are synthetic fragrances commonly used in the production of foods, cosmetics, cigarettes, and other products.

According to analytical reports and market research studies in the flavor industry, food flavors are formulated by carefully blending natural and nature-identical flavoring substances as well as synthetic flavorings, all designed to replicate the aromas of natural foods and thus impart authentic natural flavors. These flavors encompass a wide variety of categories, including aqueous and oily fruit flavors, dairy flavors, poultry flavors, meat flavors, vegetable flavors, nut flavors, candied fruit flavors, emulsified flavors, and alcoholic beverage flavors. They are suitable for use in a broad range of food products such as beverages, cookies, pastries, frozen foods, confectionery, seasonings, dairy products, canned goods, and alcoholic beverages. Food flavors come in various forms, including liquid, powder, microencapsulated, and paste-like formulations.

Fragrance Industry Classification

A specific type of fragrance in a perfume is called a fragrance family. The general classification is as follows:

(1) Imitating natural fragrance types

① Floral Fragrance: Young people love it for its ability to keep them youthful; it comes in both single-flower and complex floral fragrances.

② Fruity aroma: Middle-aged individuals prefer light and distinctive scents that convey honesty and trustworthiness.

③ Mu Xiang: Cool, elegant, tranquil, and steady;

④ Grass fragrance: A fresh, delicate aroma with a green and refreshing vibe.

(2) Synthetic fragrance

① Aldehyde fragrance: Such as fresh, sweet floral scents, fruity aromas, and forest-like fragrances—richly layered and full of variation, conveying women’s beautiful dreams.

② International fragrance, also known as animal notes, has strong diffusion and long-lasting scent.

Butterfly-in-Flight Style: An interplay of insects and plants, evoking the ambiance of being immersed in nature.

Fantasy type: Imaginative, three-dimensional, and uplifting.

Floral Style: This style is further divided into two subtypes—the Eastern style, which exudes an Oriental charm, gentleness, and mystery; and the Western style, evoking the feeling of stepping into a springtime garden filled with blooming flowers, primarily featuring Phalaenopsis orchids and carnations.

(3) Salty Flavoring

1. Meat-flavored flavorings: flavors such as pork, chicken, and beef; these can also be categorized into flavors like barbecue, clear stew, and braised in soy sauce.

2. Seafood flavoring: flavors such as shrimp, crab, and marine fish.

3. Plant-based flavorings: such as cumin, vanilla, cardamom, thyme, and other flavors.
